And by now, you may already have tried creams, steroid ointments, lotions, special diets or other treatments.
The problem? You keep applying products where the eczema shows up.
At HaloClinic, we take a different route. During professional halotherapy, you inhale microscopically fine, dry particles of medicinal (pharmaceutical-grade) salt for 60 minutes.
No cream. No complicated treatment. Just sit, breathe and let the salt do its work.

Jan struggled with persistent eczema symptoms for years. Creams and ointments did not deliver enough results, and the symptoms kept returning.
After starting halotherapy at HaloClinic Nederland, he noticed his skin became visibly calmer and his eczema patches decreased.
The photos are in order: first before the sessions (photos 1–3), then after 15 sessions in the salt room (photos 4–6). Click a photo to enlarge it.
This result was achieved after 15 sessions in the salt room.

Why do so many people keep applying creams for years?
Because eczema is visible on the skin. So it seems logical to focus on treating the skin itself.
Apply cream. Apply ointment. Try another cream.
But when symptoms keep returning, you keep treating the same problem over and over. At HaloClinic, we work differently.
We have you inhale the salt
Not just salt on your skin. Not just a salt bath. Not just relaxing in a room with salt blocks.
A professional halogenerator disperses microscopically fine, dry particles of medicinal (pharmaceutical-grade) salt throughout the room. You inhale them for 60 minutes. That is professional dry salt inhalation. It acts precisely on what causes and sustains the eczema.
What do clients with eczema notice?
- Itching decreases
- Less urge to scratch
- Skin becomes calmer
- Redness disappears
- Flaking disappears
- Damaged patches get a chance to heal
- Better sleep as itching decreases and disappears
- Your skin healed again
What do we often hear first?
“The itching is gone.”
For many clients, that is where it starts. Less itching means less scratching. Less scratching means less new damage. And that finally gives the skin a break.
You don't have to take our word for it

Why dry salt inhalation for a skin problem?
“But my eczema is on my skin. Why do I need to inhale salt?”
Because HaloClinic looks beyond where you see the problem. With eczema, the skin, inflammatory responses, allergic sensitivity and the immune system interact — just as with hay fever and allergies and asthma.
During the session, the dry medicinal (pharmaceutical-grade) salt particles are inhaled through your nose and airways. That is why you simply keep your regular clothes on at HaloClinic. You do not need to expose your eczema patches.
That is an important difference from treatments that only work on the outside of the skin.
Salt and skin healing are nothing new
People with skin problems have travelled to mineral- and salt-rich environments for generations. The Dead Sea is the best-known example.
Scientific research into magnesium-rich Dead Sea salt for dry atopic skin also reported better hydration, less skin roughness, less redness and an improved skin barrier, among other findings.
But a salt bath is not the same as HaloClinic
A salt bath works through contact with the skin. At HaloClinic, we use:
Professional dry salt inhalation
A halogenerator processes medicinal (pharmaceutical-grade) salt into microscopically fine dry particles and disperses them through the salt room in a controlled way. That is what sets a professional salt room apart from a room with nothing but salt on the walls.
What does an eczema treatment course look like?
Start with a proper course — not a single session
For chronic or recurring skin symptoms, our 15 years of practical experience mean we usually recommend 2–3 sessions per week, with an initial course of around 15–20 sessions.
Why? Because one hour is not the same as a course of treatment. Jan's photos show why it is important to look at a full course, not just a single visit. After that, you can move on to maintenance.
What does it cost to try it first?

15 years of practical experience
We didn't start halotherapy yesterday. HaloClinic has been working with professional salt rooms since 2011. Over those years, we have seen thousands of visitors with conditions including:
That is why we look beyond a single theoretical explanation. Above all, we look at what happens to people when they actually complete a course of sessions. This also applies to other skin conditions such as acne and psoriasis.
Eczema in children
Watching your child scratch all day is frustrating
Especially when you have already tried several creams and ointments. Children are welcome at HaloClinic from 6 months old. In Zaandam, we also have a separate children's salt room.
“I've now been to the salt room with mum 6 times. My eczema is as good as gone, and that's really nice.”
“My son was covered in eczema and he is still clear after three years.”
