    Back to overview

Breathlessness. Wheezing. Coughing. Stubborn mucus. And that recurring feeling that you cannot breathe freely.

Perhaps you have used inhalers for years, yet still struggle with recurring respiratory symptoms.

HaloClinic takes a different approach: professional dry salt inhalation.

For 60 minutes, a professional halogenerator disperses microscopically fine, dry particles of medicinal (pharmaceutical-grade) salt throughout the salt room. You sit back, relax and breathe normally.

Dry salt inhalation helps loosen mucus, keep your airways clean and make breathing easier.

First, see what others with asthma say

    Danielle – severe asthma

Danielle, a HaloClinic Nederland visitor with experience of halotherapy for severe asthma

Danielle struggled for years with severe asthma and recurring respiratory problems. Viruses and colds in particular lingered, causing breathlessness and breathing difficulties.

Since starting halotherapy at HaloClinic in 2017, Danielle reports being able to breathe considerably more easily and experiencing far less breathlessness.

“Since discovering HaloClinic in 2017, I have never really been breathless again, not even during Corona. Viruses always lingered for a very long time, but by using the salt room I get rid of them quickly.” – Danielle

Fellow asthma sufferer Ben used medication for his (severe) asthma for 50 years. After starting halotherapy with us, he was able to stop his medication:

Asthma is about more than the moments when you feel breathless

With asthma, the bronchial tubes are sensitive and react more strongly to triggers:

    • Pollen
    • Dust mites
    • Viruses
    • Smoke
    • Cold air
    • Physical exertion

When your airways react, three things happen at once:

    • Your airways narrow
    • Your airways become irritated
    • Extra mucus builds up

That literally leaves less room to breathe freely. Hay fever and allergies and sinus problems often play a part.

    Before and after halotherapy

Asthma before and after halotherapy, showing narrowed and more open airways

That is why we use dry salt inhalation

A professional halogenerator processes medicinal (pharmaceutical-grade) salt into microscopically fine, dry salt particles. These are dispersed throughout the salt room during the session. You breathe them in naturally.

This brings the dry salt aerosol exactly where many asthma problems begin: your nose, throat and airways.

What does halotherapy do for asthma?

    Benefits of Halotherapy for Asthma

    • Breaking Down Thick Mucus: Reduces the risk of inflammation.
    • Eliminating Inflammation: Promotes airway health.
    • Opening the Airways: Improves breathing.
    • Destroying Bacteria: Improves overall lung health.
    • Lowering IgE Levels: Reduces allergic reactions.
    • Improving Quality of Life: Promotes immune system recovery.
    • Restoring Biological Regulation: Restores balance in the body.
    • Fighting Symptoms: Effective against acute and chronic conditions such as rhinitis, pharyngitis, tracheitis, sinusitis and adenoiditis.
    • Calming the Central Nervous System: Increases energy, normalises sleep and increases resilience to stress.

Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is an antibody involved in defence against parasites and in allergic reactions. Elevated IgE levels are seen in allergic reactions or parasitic infections.

What do you really want to achieve?

People with asthma do not come to HaloClinic because they are interested in salt particles. They want to:

    • Breathe more freely
    • Feel less breathless
    • Clear mucus more easily
    • Sleep better
    • Be more physically active
    • Be less held back by their airways

That is what matters. Not complicated theory. Are you also dealing with coughing or COPD or bronchitis? Dry salt inhalation helps keep your airways clean in these cases too.

Years of asthma and already tried so much?

For many clients, HaloClinic is not their first step. They come after spending a long time dealing with their airways.

    • Inhalers
    • Other medication
    • Doctors
    • Avoiding allergies

Yet the symptoms keep coming back. If your current approach does not resolve everything, it makes sense to look at your airways from a different angle.

That is exactly why your first session at HaloClinic is free. You do not have to take our word for it. You can experience it yourself.

Droge zoutinhalatie bij astma en COPD

Salt Therapy Association — Salt Therapy Association PDF

Ronen Bar-Yoseph, Nir Kugelman, Galit Livnat, Michal Gur, Fahed Hakim — Pediatric Pulmonology

Grotere vervolgstudies blijven nodig.

    Halotherapie helpt bij COPD

Chenyan Zhang, Weijie Zhu, Qinghai Meng, Naqi Lian, Jingzhen Wu — Annals of Translational Medicine

Neil E. Alexis, William Bennett, David Blaine Peden — Journal of Asthma

Teal S. Hallstrand, Joerg D. Leuppi, Guy Joos, Graham L. Hall, Kai-Håkon Carlsen — European Respiratory Journal
