    Halotherapy Treatment Guide

    How often is halotherapy needed? See our guideline for respiratory complaints, skin conditions, allergies and maintenance.

    How often is halotherapy needed?

    Halotherapy works best when sessions are followed with sufficient regularity. How often and how many sessions someone needs depends on the nature and duration of the complaints, their severity and how the body responds to salt therapy.

    That is why HaloClinic Nederland does not use one standard treatment for everyone. We look at your complaints and recommend a suitable programme based on them.

    A session at HaloClinic lasts 60 minutes.

    Not sure how many sessions you need?

    Start with a free, no-obligation first session. Afterwards we can look together at which programme suits your complaints.

    Why several sessions?

    A single session can already be noticeable, for example because breathing feels freer, mucus loosens more easily or you feel more relaxed. With chronic or long-term complaints, repetition is important.

    During every session the professional halogenerator disperses microscopically fine, dry salt particles throughout the salt room. These are inhaled naturally for 60 minutes.

    For respiratory complaints the aim is, among other things, to:

    • cleanse the airways;
    • make it easier to clear stubborn mucus;
    • calm irritated airways;
    • support freer and deeper breathing;
    • reduce the burden of recurring respiratory complaints.

    For skin complaints such as eczema and psoriasis, halotherapy is also used as natural support. At HaloClinic, clients simply keep their clothes on during the treatment. The treatment therefore does not depend solely on direct contact between salt and the skin.

    Starting phase and maintenance phase

    1. Starting phase

    For existing or chronic complaints we usually advise scheduling the sessions closer together at first. This creates continuity in the programme.

    For many complaints this means: 1 to 3 sessions per week.

    2. Evaluation

    After approximately 5 to 10 sessions you can review what change you are experiencing.

    For example:

    • breathing more easily;
    • less shortness of breath;
    • coughing up mucus more easily;
    • less urge to cough;
    • calmer nose and sinuses;
    • more energy;
    • calmer skin;
    • less itching;
    • better night's sleep;
    • more relaxation.

    3. Maintenance

    Once the complaints have clearly decreased, the frequency usually does not need to stay the same.

    A maintenance session can then be scheduled periodically, depending on the person, the season and the nature of the complaints.

    For hay fever: start before the pollen season

    For hay fever and seasonal allergies it is wise not to wait until the complaints are at their peak.

    A programme can be started before or at the very beginning of the hay fever season. After that, halotherapy can be used as maintenance throughout the season.
