Where does halotherapy come from?
Although we have been a household name in the region for 15 years, halotherapy is still relatively unknown in the Netherlands. In Central and Eastern Europe the situation is very different: a medical tradition around salt and airways has existed there for almost 200 years. In the Polish Wieliczka, patients have been treated in the salt-mine climate since 1838. In Ukraine, internists, paediatricians and ENT doctors refer patients for halotherapy. In Latvia, halotherapy is offered in a hospital setting on referral from a GP or specialist; in Lithuania it takes place in the Marijampolė hospital using dry NaCl aerosol, and in Russia halo chambers can be found in hospitals and national medical centres, often with a professional halogenerator. What may sound somewhat magical or alternative here has been part of medical and rehabilitation care there for generations.

Kinderen / astma en luchtwegklachten
Vincent – ernstig astma, drie puffers en weer vrij ademen na de zoutkamer
Vincent kwam als kind met zijn moeder naar de zoutkamer vanwege ernstig astma, bronchitis en benauwdheid. Hij gebruikte drie verschillende puffers en kreeg steeds nieuwe medicatie van de huisarts, zonder blijvend resultaat. Na een aantal sessies halotherapie veranderde dat: geen klachten meer en geen afhankelijkheid van medicatie.
Kinderen / luchtweg- en bijholteklachten
Lexi (7) en opa – luchtwegklachten, voorhoofdsholteontsteking en de zoutkamer
Lexi (7) had last van heftige luchtwegklachten. Haar opa nam haar mee naar de zoutkamer, waar ze kan spelen en ontspannen. Lexi hoeft nu geen pilletje meer en gaat niet meer naar de huisarts. En opa? Die heeft eindelijk geen last meer van voorhoofdsholteontstekingen.
Bijholteklachten / weerstand
Nika – terugkerende verkoudheid, verstopte holtes en oorontstekingen
Nika werd meerdere keren per jaar ziek: elke verkoudheid sloeg meteen door naar haar holtes en oren, met oorontstekingen tot gevolg. Sinds ze naar de zoutkamer komt, is dat voorbij. Ze vertelt dat ze nu hooguit nog een week per jaar ziek is.
Astma / luchtwegklachten
Ben – zware astma, 50 jaar medicatie en zijn ervaring in de zoutkamer
Ben had zware astma en was vijftig jaar lang onder behandeling bij de longarts, met antibiotica en prednison. Inmiddels komt hij een jaar bij HaloClinic in de zoutkamer. In de video vertelt hij dat hij met al zijn medicijnen is gestopt.
COPD / Long COVID
Piet – COPD, zuurstof na corona en geen longontstekingen meer
Piet belandde tijdens de coronaperiode met COPD als onderliggend lijden op de intensive care. Daarna kreeg hij meerdere keren per jaar longontstekingen en ziekenhuisopnames. Sinds hij in de zoutkamer komt, is dat verleden tijd – ook zijn longarts is tevreden.
Eczeem / hooikoorts / astma
Fabio (23) – eczeem, astma en hooikoorts sinds zijn jeugd
Fabio had van jongs af aan last van huid- en ademhalingsproblemen: eczeem, astma en hooikoorts. Het vaste traject was testen en medicijnen. Toen hij acht was, nam zijn opa hem mee naar de zoutkamer. Sindsdien geen medicatie, maar rust – en komt hij langs zodra hij weer klachten voelt.

Maria – stoflongen, dreigende COPD en haar longcapaciteit na halotherapie
Maria stond op het punt COPD te ontwikkelen: als beeldhouwer kreeg ze stoflongen en haar huisarts wilde haar doorverwijzen naar de longarts. Na een aantal intensieve sessies in de zoutkamer stond de huisarts versteld van haar longcapaciteit. Geen doorverwijzing, geen medicijnen.
